I buy e-books now. And I usually end up printing out the study-worthy chapters. I currently have a 20" high stack of 'good chapter printouts' on my bedside table. You don't want a picture of that.

Pete Millett's site has a bunch of books scanned.
tubebooks.org - Vintage info from the age of vacuum tubes

For the unobtanium or absurdly expensive books, I just get an inter-libary loan and scan them to CD. Then print out the chapters of interest.

Also try Google on some of them, like Wolpert or the Tek Circuit Concept series, already scanned and downloadable.
