And FWIW, arcorob never mentioned EL84's. Only EL34's. (I had searched the thread and knew this.)
It was only dwinstonwood who mentioned the EL84's.

I think that's what prompted your comment about apples and currants.

And since it's somewhat relative to the thread, how big is the difference between Torroid Output Transformers and EI Core Hammond outputs.

The Hammond 1650R is rated at 100W, with a 5K primary (with U/L taps), and has a suggested use with Push-Pull Parallel using 4 807's, 5881's, EL34's, 6146B's, 6550B's or KT88's.

The one thing I am pretty sure of is that the frequency response won't be as good, since the Hammond is rated at 30Hz to 30KHz (instead of 8Hz-40KHz) and I'm doubtful I could get the THD down to 0.7% at 90W output with the Hammond's.

The Hammond OPT's are expensive enough. Anything I've seen from Plitron/Amplimo/Vanderveen are double the price or more.

Vanderveen and Amplimo are no longer connected. Menno van der Veen sells his products through his own website now. But Amplimo still sells a range of toroidal output and power transformers and their prices (for push-pull ranging from Euro 64 to Euro 235, including VAT) and 'value for money' seem pretty good.

And inform, it did! Thanks!

I hadn't seen these prices before. Most places I found that had/have torroidal outputs available, had prices double what they show on the site you linked. .

I can get a pair of 100w 'open' torroid outputs for ~$260 CAD, delivered.
(Probably get stuck paying brokerage/13% tax on that when they arrive.)

But that's not much more than one Hammond 1650R.....
