Anyone have a handle on this?
Years ago I tried pure silver IC's, speaker cables, and hookup wire. Always came up with an edgy sound so I gave up on it. They were all coated with teflon. Recently, I tried silver wire TVC, silver wire IC, and today 25g silver speaker cables. No teflon coating and it's like spinning silk into the sound. Mids and high are smooth, detailed and extended, but lows seem subjectively lighter. Is it the teflon that makes silver edgy? Or the purity that's the issue?
2 weeks ago went into the Kondo suite at HK Hifi Show and listened to the Audionote (Japan) silver-based system. An utterly charming sound. I heard that he has his silver wire polished to a mirror finish.
What have you experienced with silver?

An excerpt form an interview with Jennifer Crock.
Although I use pure silver throughout I do use mostly Kapton insulated wire:
Advantages are:
No PTFE
No oxidation of the wire since this a coating like used on magnet wire.
Very thin insulator allowing closer twisting where called for.
No friction possible between insulator and wire.
Cons:
Kapton is hard to remove.
I use a stanley knife to grate it away paying attention as to not damage the wire surface.

Doesn't look like they are exactly same thing.
If you search for both Polyesterimide and Polyimide, you will find that Polyimide has better thermal properties (higher thermal index = better thermal properties).
However, they both serve pretty much the same purpose, and I wouldn't imagine it making much difference for audio.

When I evaluate the change of sound, I hear the major differences, but do not hear the minor differences. If I change a part, I believe there is always a difference. If the difference is however insignificant and negligible, I express that I do not hear the difference. Moreover, when large amount of money is involved in the changing the part, My criteria of difference becomes more critical.
I use two types of interconnect lines made of silver-plated copper and just copper.
My general impression is that the silver-plated copper line makes the sound brighter than the copper line.
I connected my BOSOZ pre to XSOZV2 power with the copper line because when I tried the connection with the silver-plated copper line, the sound was a bit too bright to be mine. I however use the silver-plated lines (0.4mm-dia solid with Teflon insulation, two lines, twisted) between the sources and BOSOZ. I tried the connections with the copper lines too, but I found no impressive difference. Then, why I use the silver-plated line? They are made of very thin lines so that they provide me a tidy line arrangement at the backside of my music system. In this case, just for the look, not for the sound.
I have another funny feeling. At first when I change a part, I feel there is a difference in sound. But, after two or three weeks, I am beginning to feel no difference. My ears are whimsical…??

Siverplated copper and solid pure silver are two totally different things.
Silver doesn't sound bright at all but silverplated copper does and it often used to extend high freq. transmission in RF applications.
The most important is you hear difference from changing from one to the other.
And,yes after a while you do get used to the sound.
Don't forget also that cables as other electronic parts need time to break in and settled for their uses.
No need for me to worry then...😎
