The Photography and Camera Thread

Your worst picture is the one that you did not take/shoot.

There are accessories for electric guitar solid state amplifiers that make them sound similar to vacuum tube amplifiers. Close, but no cigar. The accessories do have a reason to exist . . . convenience.

So, now there is software that makes an Android or iPhone picture look like an SLR picture or larger mirrorless camera picture. Close, but no cigar? I suspect so.
But the new software does have a reason to exist . . . convience

There is software that makes a digital camera picture look like a film picture, Velvia, Color print negative, or HP5 black and white negative, etc. Close, but no cigar.

Simulation and the real thing. Is your girlfriend, woman, or wife a simulation, or is she the real thing? Close but no cigar.

This is what Pi can do -- in Photoshop or wet chemistry darkroom it's a nightmare getting this right:

The problem with cameras with interchangeable lenses is we eventually end up with 30lbs of lenses we don’t want to lug around. The guy with the fixed lens camera has no such problem.

My Nikon 35Ti or Konica S3 are looking pretty good and very compact. The Panasonic GFX with 25mm F/2 is also very fun as a manual focus camera and super pocketable.

If you go Leica they are half the size. For twenty times the price.

That truly is the consequence of the 35mm rangefinder system, yet at the same time, regardless of the camera, that classic lineup of a moderate wide angle, a fast 'normal', and a moderate telephoto can cover the vast majority of most photographic opportunities. The upside being they're not big (or at least weren't at one time) nor do they weigh a lot, and can have good speed. Speed may not be an issue if you favour high ISO settings, or fast films, but as someone who prefers the opposite in low ISO settings and slow film speeds, I like a fast lens (without going insane).
