I'm amazed I didn't get more flack over my conclusions over Metal Halide vs. Halogen in the "OHP comparison" thread.
So.....in the next day or two I will post side by side pictures of two OHPs in operation.
575W / 95V HMI vs 400W / 36V Halogen each with the same LCD panel on top..same room...same lighting conditions.
I won't tell you which is which, but we'll let your taste decide...
If you can tell me which is Pepsi (MH), I will leave voting open for 24 hours, before revealing the result.

When you make comparison, don't forget control the light leakage a little bit. it is best to make a shroud like the one in this post . but it takes time to make. At least put a cardboard on the OHP between it and the sreen. I found it made picture much better because it blocked most light shining directly onto the screen:

I'll see what I can do...
mmmm....I will try and make at least a token effort to shield the excess light from spilling on to the screen.
However, even if I didn't, both OHPs would be suffering equally - so surely the comparison is still valid...

Just to recap
The OHP on the left is halogen and uses EVD bulbs
The OHP on the right is MH and uses 575W HMI bulbs
Each PJ has been used to display two paused DVD images - one familiar light image, and one dark image
Large room, matt white PJ surface, image size around 80" diagonally, room has shades partially drawn, but some ambient light is present.
The halogen is on economy setting (around 2500 - 3000 lumens)
The HMI is on full power (12000 lumens)
.......................
Must apologise for the slight blurring in the pics - I didn't have a tripod

Let your taste decide....
Which is Pepsi (MH) ?
Also, which image do you think is best ?
Answer will be revealed in 24 hours

A seems to have better definition but B seems to have better colours. Its a good comparison to do and in glad you have taken the time and effort to do it. I would say B is the MH.
Re: So which is Pepsi
If I let my taste decide for me it would say:
B
But me, myself and I say that I would be happy with both of the results!
BTW:
Since you are in the process of dismantling a 14" Panaflat TFT monitor, would you consider selling you powerview panel to me?

I would vote for B too for it has a better looking bright image. But both are good. I would satisfied by either of them.
i think b is the better image(s). also could you tell me the rough dimensions of the projected screen area?
thanks
