See, herein lies part of the problem Tony. While you are using inches to measure feet, the rest of the world uses a ruler or tape measure.

When I was a kid, I recall reading this stuff in Castilian.
So 'foot' is 'pie'... OK, sense of scale is correct.
But, 'inch' is 'pulga"... ie: 'flea'. I always wondered how the Americans and English could go around measuring things with fleas. I figured they either had Big Fleas, or Small Feet... but we Spaniards changed our socks daily, so we never had fleas on our feet. Weird.
But. why don't we measure amplifier in Joules? After all:
d/dt J = W. Or simpler, 1 watt = 1 joule/sec.
When we measure amplifiers we measure them in instantaneous units... watts... but we don't take into account the temporal (t) dimension. We could have an amplifer that has weak capacitors so it can put a lot of watts in a short amount of time ( think multi channel AVR ) but quits after a bit.... so if we measured joules, we could then use a more accurate description of how work an amplifier can do. It would be more like P(t)
And why do we stick with KwH when Joules would be far more accurate?
Maybe time to go back to forthnights.
