I'm afraid that the pub is fast becoming a place which has lost its original purpose - a place to relax and unwind whilst enjoying an illusional drink.
Instead we find that we are being lectured to/at whilst the chief lecturer - without any disclosure of credentials - seems to expect us to sit-up, take notice and agree with his unproven speculations. [Yet the selfsame lecturer whines rather a lot about the 'poms' being absolutely ghastly people. As we have some absolutely ghastly Australian people living in the UK, we export our own...just to even things up somewhat.

I would ask you to realize that I am in no way unsympathetic to the posts which started off this change of tenor in the forum; it is that I believe that to develop it further is beyond the purpose of the Pub thread.
Perhaps a new thread in the Lounge section is called for?😉
