Black-eyed peas and ham shank are quietly simmering in the slow cooker as I write this. It's a traditional food in the U.S. SE, and supposed to be good luck on New Year's Day.
The black-eyed peas were tasty with pan-fried cornbread and collard greens, all components of the "good luck" meal.
Dodos must still be sleeping off hangovers from New Year's. Have a hair of the dog and report in.
Yeah, I saw your pictures. I haven't seen that much snow since I left upstate NY 35 years ago. I don't miss it. I spent part of New Year's day cleaning out gutters, putting in gutter guards (overdue), and whacking back an overly exuberant tree, so I have a few small aches of my own. At least water is sill liquid here...
I just finished with another gutter session (filthy work), and am back here in front of the keyboard nursing a beer, having run out of both gumption and gutter guards. I'll finish up the job when I acquire more guards (and gumption) - it's coldish and drizzly outside, adding to the joy, The best that I can say is that the only dead things I found in the gutters were leaves.
