Ah. I wasnt aware of the nomenclature, thanks. I just need something to feed the coils, a good system schetch. Theres two coils usually for 4 cyl's, I guess they turn on at piston down or on exchaust to.

After seeing the work your doing I bet you could adapt an aftermarket crank trigger system. No distributer ......so maybe 4pickups and magnets on different planes.

This looks decent C5 Performance - C5 PERFORMANCE HOME
They also have a "battery elliminator" ELECTRICAL SUPPLIES - C5 Performance, I wonder if that is anything but a capacitor?
Your engine must have a permanent magnet type rotor eliminate your battery
go figure

Yes, I want one. T'was that Mercury thingie I was talking about. Must be aftermarket to...
A John Deere maybe 😀

perfect ;
however , if you want DC CDI , you need that , 12V reg + cap , too
isn't better DC CDI , and just small accu ?

I want to elliminate the battery and I will not have any other consumers then ignition so Im thinking a perma magnet would be simplest and lightest. I mailed those C5 to see if they can give me directions about voltage and current speces for such a devise for their system.

I have converted old cars with points to both OEM General motors and MSD ignitions. These applications use a distributor. I'm not sure about the multicoil distributor-less system.

ok - perma alternator , rectifier , reg , cap , DC CDI , pickup , HT coils
That means a 12 V perma alternator, and the CDI gets that up to whatever the coils need trigged by the optical pickup signal in this case?
inductive , hall , optical - whatever is your choice for CDI

ZM good article. That system still needs a distributor to send the spark to the right place. Two diy triggers & two junkyard ignition modules would be cheap enough but still need a 12v source. The magneto seems less parts. I might carry a battery and skip breakfast to get back the weight.
Any idea how much the bike will weigh?

I bet Stajo's best chance is to just go to local mcycle salvage/SH part store and pick what's looking most appropriate
say small rotor with magnet tip and pickup coil from any honda
then any DC CDI for 4 cyl , with original HT coils ; they're (at least to my knowledge ) all based on single pickup impulse , and both advancing and distribution are made electronically in CDI
though , I believe Stajo's drek will have plenty of RPMs , so purchasing something new , along with know how , could be smartest thing
in any case - they (suede flying Dodossess) could pay that with 2hr beer bill

Engine 79 kg dry, frame 10 kg, then fork, drivechain and wheels. 140 kg?
Light....My stripped down CBR weighed 40 kg more. It made just 100hp at the rear wheel. best 1/4 mile I could get was 11.14 sec.
I wonder how much battery is needed for the ignition to run a minute or two. One might skip the alternator instead and use ready charged batteries. A small NiHM-pack maybe?? Wuutcha think about that?
