Spent a morning sorting out the system (X.7.5) and ended with a re-install and ditto with Office 2011. All seems OK.

The batteries have exploded in iMacs, and of course Els can be troublesome anywhere.
as was stated the imacs have notorious "bad Caps" in the power supply mainly, lots of info on line...

I could hear it in the next room. Now the nice big shiny computer is silent and the little dusty one is all that's left. I sure had got used to multiple processors and all that jazz. I hope it is a simple problem with a PSU or something but I'm not sure. When something lets out a little bang, maybe it's telling me something?
Happened to me. Cap or tranny in power supply. Took it to the guru. Put in new power supply. In and out five minutes.😀

OMG using this old unit is painful.
Think of it as sexual experience, those who start with an old bag, likely will end with one.
Well, I guess that eliminates me. My wife, who is actually older than me, gets mistaken for the babysitter. I think I'm doing ok.

Back at the office now so I have a computer I can actually type on. The other one will be back from the Doctor on Wednesday hopefully. New PSU, hopefully with good caps this time.
