The Pass Pub: The High-End Off Topic Thread

Believe you me, if one is a 6' dame from The Hague, covered in tats&pins, who manages to devour a bottle of scotch till 1am and get up at 6 to go horseback riding, listening is the least of your worries.

Wild ones are heaps of fun to hang out with, but if you hit the rage button, better to park the car somewhere else for a while.

to clear up any confusion...

The big speakers pictured are original 1936 Western Electric Mirrophonic-- 594A driver, 26A horn, 4x TA-4181A 18" woofers in an open back W cab. Tweeter is modern GIP from Japan. All field coil.

The small A7 looking things are Altec inspired cabs for an 8" field coil driver produced by our friends at GIP.

It was really hard to switch down to the smaller speaker after hearing the Mirrophonic!😀

edit : feel free to comment two other pics , previously attached to post :

That is a pile of Silbatone gear, SE and PP 300B amps, designed primarily for Asian audiophiles with too much money. We don't even bring price lists or business cards to the Munich show. We are there to play old WE speakers as a living museum exhibit and consume as much German beer and pork as possible.

Actually the amp in the center is our entry model, only $25000 list price.

The jc morrison designed circuits are quite interesting. The PP amp is like an old balanced differential lab amp using 310A and 6C8 input and driver. The 300B SE amp uses a direct coupled circuit with current feedback. Very few or no coupling caps in most Silbatone gear.

Output transformers are super high bandwidth with silver coated foil secondaries. Very innovative, high performance design.

Super fun show. Lots of cool people there.
