The Nania Audio Power Theory?

I think I’m starting to get my brain around the interface between the amp and the speaker. This is, after all the heart of this issue. I guess I’m also starting to see there’s not a whole lot of new ideas out there, at least not as much as we might like to think there is.
And as it looks like, even "The Nania Audio Power Theory" is not so new and has been there before.
Please take a look at this site which I found on the net by accident :

As far I understand it, this guy is talking about exactly the same thing as nania .......
(or do I still miss something 😕 )

Hi cocolino

Ya, this Stanley White guy reads a lot like Nania dosen't he. I see a lot of text that claims to be expert and original. That however doesn't make it so.

He claims that bi-amping is one of the keys to "HI-FI".
Well most of us would agree with that to some degree I think. Bi-amping can make an improvement in a lot of systems and is underused as a way to get better performance from a speaker system.

The next bit of magic is that he somehow transforms a PP ultra-linear tube amp with a cathode follower driven diff-amp as a phase splitter into a "transducer".

Now I'm going to need to think about this a while. OK long enough. I guess you just can't trust every thing you read on the internet.

As with all things one must use your own judgement, as for me, I don't think so pal. It just doesn't stand up very well. Sorry.

"Sound is a subject of physics, having little to do with electronics. Electrical engineers are trained in electricity, not sound. "

LMAO

Now I know why discussions can get so heated, given that electronics is not in the domain of physics. To think we had the audacity to use logic and reason.

People with degrees in Physics, such as yours truly, look
upon the universe as the subject of physics, and all the
other sciences are simply subordinate to physics.

It follows that acoustics and electronics might not have
a lot to do with each other except that they are both
special disciplines of Physics.

Of course, mathematicians get to look down on Physics,
being merely an application of mathematics.

😉

Stanley F. White's websites are rather funny. I'd be carefull, though. If you show any slight interest to the man, you are prone to some unwanted attention. His type will spout their beleifs to anyone with an ear.

By the way: 1/137 is the fine structure constant. It is a constant that kept showing up in quantum equations. It isn't exactly 1/137 but darn close.
In reality it is the charge of the electron squared divided by (2* placks constant * speed of light * permitivitty of free space).

Don't you think that it is a little much of our buddy Stanley to be claiming it as his own?

A book that is a little dry, but definitely pertains to this thread is Structure of Scientific Revolutions by Thomas S. Kuhn. If you can find a good synopsis of it, read it.

The Kuhn book on scientific revolution is a great read - it shows us how easily we can become blinded in the pursuit of knowledge.

Nelson, I encountered a similar "hierarchy" in academic disciplines during my studies. From what I have seen, the hierarchy is something like what follows, with each group "looking down" on (and feeling superior to) the groups that come later in the list:

Math -> Physics -> Chemistry -> Biology -> Engineering -> Business -> Law -> Education -> Art

Funny how these themes keep resurfacing 😉

In my repair shop world the order is Repair Technician (me) -> Mathematician -> Physicist -> Chemist -> Biologist -> Engineer -> Businessman -> Lawyer -> Teacher -> Artist ......... All of the above can teach me about their respective fields, but guess who gets to fix their vcr/tv/audio ?. 😉
I get to hear some pretty wild and misguided theories of operation and fault diagnosis at the front counter from some of these types.
Somehow they seem to think that their own diagnosis will help me or save them money - it is usually neither.
The above types are amazed at the ability of an adept repairs technician to pull just about anything apart, understand it, repair it and hand it back next day as good as new.
Some of my repeat customers even call me God, or at least God sent. 🙂
My God is the nice lady at the local Chinese takeaway - she may not have any degrees but she sure can cook.

Eric.

I figured it was about time for an avatar and that seemed most appropriate. I assume you know what it is.

I've been looking for some more action but it seems kind of quiet in the mis-information department and, so far, I haven't been able to locate another idiot who I can land on. Oh well, it's still summer and I've got a lot of bike riding to do. Maybe things will pick up later.
