The most robust dome tweeter available?

Have you given any thought to using a small tweeter array? Similar to what you are doing with the mids, with maybe three smaller 1" Neo domes in a vertical alignment the the upper and lower supplying the "kick" below 2k.

I think I’m gonna give the SBAcoustics SB29 a try. With an FS of 600hz it just might do the job. Xmax isn’t great at .5 PtP so I suspect a bit of nonlinearity at higher volumes. If I can mechanically boost the lower end response and then cross at say 1.4, that might do the trick……not much space to work a waveguide in and if I recall correctly, most ring radiators don’t like to be horn loaded

If it were me I'd use the SB29RDAC. Note, the SB29RDNC (the tiny neo version) is glued together and the faceplate doesn't come off. I'm thinking about trying to cut it off and put it in a waveguide in a future build, but that is a long way down the road.

Augerpro (https://www.somasonus.net/satori-tw29tx) has a 4" circular waveguide for the SB Satori Textreme 29mm that I would "think" would work, but I can't be 100%. The waveguide is 4.7795 inches in diameter so you would need to just truncate it a little on two sides.

There‘s some Scanspeaks that have an even lower Fs, but at 45 degrees off axis, they’re down 6-10db at 10khz…..not sure how that will translate to dialogue….probably not much but for immersive audio it will be a problem

Well with the little Peerless (already posted) I loose some “air” and that’s about it. Meaningless with HT. Even with most stereo I’d still describe the result as ”good”.

Note: a bigger problem is getting the off-axis pressure correct for near-listener’s to that tweeter; in other words left channel can still become to loud for listener’s sitting left of center (and the same for right channel and right listeners). I had to not only use the dipole null to my advantage with ”cross-in-front” of the listener positioning to suppress the output to the near-listener, but also had to use some sound absorption in font of the tweeter. This was with a full center and Atmos. You can see mostly see the results here:

Yes the ones on the Textreme page will work. USe the ones with no phase shield. The measurements of the SD29SDAC on these waveguides is in my thread, I just haven't made a page at my website for them yet. That said, IIRC distortion measurements at HiFiCompass showed the SB26ADC with better low frequency distortion than the SB29SDAC. Something to consider.

The SB26 looks like the better option with double the P to P excursion of the 29…..thanks. Off axis response is better too.
