You don't need the 1K resistor.

This circuit can also stop the oscillations because it will present a load on the circuit.
To see oscillations in a circuit, you really need something with a very high input impedance. The circuit should be sensitive enough to see the oscillations without a direct connection to the circuit being investigated.

frank and itsmee. i realy don't secondguess zen-mod's advice. this is a circut provided by him in another thread.
and one say drop 1K. other say it's too low🙂
