In the book 'High-speed digital design' of Dr. Howard Johnson, wrote that(sorry, I must translate from Chinese ,because the book I got is the Chinese version ,I did not get the English version
):
http://www.sigcon.com/
the jitter of XO come from 4 sources,
1. the heat noise of the crystal
2.the mechanic noise of the crystal
3. the circuit's noise.this noise is much than the sum of 1 & 2 in general.
4.the noise of power supply.this noise is troublesome, and most of XO are trouble in that.
Cause I want to DIY a XO......my question is,the jitter of 'low noise' XO is mainly come from 1 & 2 or 3 & 4?...in the other words, which contribute much in the low noise XO,the cuicuit?or the crystal?
any input will be appreciated
sorry my poor English.

Hi,
Yes, 3 and 4 dominate usually
cheers
Re: Re: the jitter of XO,is mainly come from its circuit?
Thanks a lot,Guido Tent.
I still have a little puzzle...Is your reply refer to the low noise XO,or not?
and... maybe the improve method of ML 31.5 transport just get the better performance in only 5% or lesser?😀 😀 😀

Hi
This is valid for all oscillators
What should I comment on a picture ?
It looks nice......
cheers

sorry for my poor English.
My meaning is that the ML31.5's method to reduce the mechanic noise maybe just for the improve of 5% or lesser.😱
