That's fine by me. I really don't know shipping rates in Europe, but for a set of interconnects or a AC Power cord cannot be too bad.

Here's a little update:

Andrea, your set of Blacksheep Mars RCA interconnect are on their way. Merry X-mas and happy new year!

Jase, yours will be heading out later today.

The first demo set will be heading to IGWT in Minnesota, the second set will head to pchw in California, and the third set to beeah somewhere close to me in NY. I have 1 more set to send out. Any bites? After that, it will be at least a month or so until the first testers have to ship them out again.

We have the fourth diyaudio.com member bigbillc! Don't know where he is yet. Now, anyone else who wants to test the Blacksheep Kable RCA interconnect can still send their mailing address and first come first served!!

As the time draws nearer I'll let you know. So far by the response, the list won't be short too long.

The wait will probably be about 1.5 - 2 months just because of the holidays and burn time. In the meanwhile, once I get back to Bangkok, I will probably send out 2 Blacksheep AC power cords - Hercules to as demos and a few Blacksheep speaker cables as well.

We just had out first review from a customer about our Hercules AC power cord. The customer is in Bangkok. Not sure what he said yet, but heard it was good. It was in Thai.

Hi Mark!

Thanks for the demo request. You are officially 1st on the waiting list. Depending on the response, I may send out another cable, in which you may get first.

Frank

In the future, you can post your interest here and just e-mail me your shipping address. It looks like I'm talking to myself! Thanks

Ok all! Survived yet another family Christmas. The only crying is when my daughters snow globe from Santa broke. The only swearing was when I dropped my daughters snow globe from Santa.

Three out of four Blacksheep RCA interconnects went out today to the following:

IGWT in Minesotta

bigbillc in Texas

pchu in California

The next set will be hand delivered to Joe in upstate NY on the 30th.

When you get them, please post here so I can keep track.

I hope you enjoy them!

Frank

Blacksheep Kable Mars Interconnect Impressions

Hello Frank,

I recieved the cables today. My impressions(after a brief unthaw, outside mailbox=partial cryo treatment as temps here are -20 F.): I like the exposed multi colored braid. I was expecting a much stiffer cable, being a 10 conductor assembly, but these are very flexible. The quality of the braid is very good, very uniform for hand braiding. The RCA terminations seem to be of good quality(from what I can see since they are mostly concealed by heatshrink).
After checking continuity & resistance with my DMM I installed the BKMs in my living room system, between my dac and integrated tube/ss amp combo. I played some Diane Krall Live in Paris, and the first thing I noticed was the BKMs seemed to bring out more "sparkle" in my system. Being a skeptic I replaced Diane with Charlie Hayden's Best Of Quartet West. The instruments had more of that "snap" like you get at live performances. My system seems to better resolve the spaces between the notes now also, the dark spaces are darker so-to-speak. So far I would say the BKMs are for sure more revealing than my teflon coated, diy, solid silver, Eichmann Bullet terminated cables that I previously held to high regard in the place the Blacksheeps are now serving duty. Surprising for sure!

More to come once I've lived with the BKMs for a while.

Hello igwt,

Thank you for your kind and honest review. This is exactly the response I was looking for.

The flexibility is due to the multi-stranded conductors although I'm sure the -20 made them a little stiffer than usual. Solid silver would have been nearly impossible to braid by hand. It took a month or so of practice to be able to get the consistency down. If you make a mistake and don't catch it quickly, it is really hard to back track with 10 conductors.

It has been my experience (not saying anything about burn time) that you'll be able to hear the difference immediately, burned in or not.

The RCA connections are Neutrik, they seem to do the trick, but we are constantly trying others. Yes, they are shrink wrapped and also glued with silicon.

Have a few questions for you:

Do you think we should keep the 3 colors or go down to just black and red? We also offer the Mars with cable sleeving (called the BKMV - Mars Volta). I guess some people prefer the finished look.

Do you think $90 is a reasonable price for the quality?

Are there any areas that could be improved on?

I hope you enjoy using them and look forward to hearing more!

Frank

Hmmmmm...thanks...this sounds very promising...

Even though I'm not a fan of DIY-style solid silver interconnects. I hope I receive my Mars soon! (and that the Italian post does its duty 🙂 )
