Since this is a fun topic and alot of people seem to want to try it. I thought it would be fun to see who can get the most lumens from a DIY LED projector. Commercial mod or complete DIY it dont matter. I ordered a cheap lux meter and some lenses.
For simplicity the measurements should be taken at 1m projecting 100% white and at 1m with a video source.
I am shooting for 100 lux/lumens with my mod....Please post pictures and your results...LET THE FUN BEGIN!!!!

That looks to be a commercial prototype. That light engine is not DIY but still 150 lumens is nice.

I got suckered into buying an ebay LED-LCD projector rated at 400 lumens and honestly my AAXA P2 projector (33 lumens) has a WAY better image quality than it...

It might not be actually as bright, but the colors are much better probably because of the LCOS design - plus it's battery powered. Granted it consumes like 12 watts which is what like a 500 lumen LED (?) so the efficiency is crap, but at least the battery lasts an hour haha.
Anyways I'm taking the AAXA P2 light engine apart for my home theater project, I'll share some pictures when I get around to it. 🙂
