The Boominator - another stab at the ultimate party machine

Saturnus, you have recommened these speakers:
Woofer: Monacor SP-60 SP-60/4 - Monacor HiFi bass-midrange speakers 60Wmax 4Ω - Europe Audio
Tweeter: ND16FA-6 ND16FA-6 - Dayton 5/8 inch Neodymium Dome Tweeter - Europe Audio
Highpass to tweeter 6.8 uf capasitor

Do i need L-pad in tweeters in this set? Or do those woofers and tweeters match together without L-pad.

That's what I've suggested to other before, yes.

No L-pad needed.

Build it into a PLUGGIS Ikea box... job done.

After having read all the pages, and posts of this thread, I cant seem to remember anyone asking if they could use the HP10IT. I googled HP10w, but the link i pressed took me to the HP10IT, it's the same price, and the picture looks exactly the same... Can I use the HP10IT for this project, it seems like the exact same speaker...

Another boombox builder here needing help:
I'm using two Monacor Sp-60 (8ohm) woofers and Monacor DT-25N for tweeters. I don't know anything about crossovers and such, so can I just use a single capacitor for filter like it is recommended with the Dayton tweeters? And if so, what value should they be?

It doesn't sound like a boominator or one of its siblings, so you're asking in the wrong thread......

Power resistor

Hmmm...... I've just taken delivery of the 4ohm power resistors for my boominator filter (I'm using HP10w's and PT-407N's).... It's bigger, heavier and not what I expected, is this the right type?

Ah. Now I get it. You mean the resistor needed to dampen a PHT-407N. Yeah. That's the right one they sent you.

I thought we were talking the 47ohm resistor on a piezo tweeter. That has to be carbon composition, or alternatively metal film.

Wirewound is fine for the series resistor before the series cap on a PHT-407N

Phew, thanks Saturnus....... They are bigger and heavier than expected but as long as they are right, I can proceed... You suggested that I try 1 (or 2 paralleled) in series to my audio taste, so I bought 4..... I'm assuming that this sets the level of the tweeter and the cap sets the crossover point. I'm going to wire these in a way so I can easily remove them if I decide to upgrade to 24v amp9 and minidsp.........

or maybe I'll just build a signature an be done with it

I finally started building a Boominator and originally I bought and planned to use a 2011 Lepai ta2020 but because people are having bad experiences with this amp I wanna get a better amp.

I found the new Indeed TA2021 and ordered it, but then realized than the input sensitivity is 600mV, which as far as I understand isn't good. It should be around 200mV.

So now my eyes are on either the SMSL SA-S1 TA2020 SMSL Silver SA S1 TA2020 20W 2 Pro Audio Class T Tripath Digital Amplifier Hi Fi | eBay or the SMSL SA-S3 TA2021 SMSL Hi Class SA S3 TA2021B Hi Fi Digital Amplifier Silver | eBay

I can't figure out which would be the best investment in terms of performance and power usage.

I'm using 3 12v 9AH and HP-10W and monacor 001 piezo's.

Any input is higly apreciated and thanks to Saturnus and others for all the information in this thread!

I have the same problem to find HP10W and the intertechnik's seller say me :
"I still explained a lot of times that the HP10W and HP10IT are 100% identical ."

Saturnus can you explain why i can't use HP10IT for boominator ?
