I think that you have a good idea , but first i want to understand this "simple" cathode follower Schematic.
I was thinking to 2 tubes because the current in a 8 Ohm headphone is high.

No problem for these tubes as you need not much power here. Less then 1 Watt (more will blow your ears off your head). So if you do not care of bad efficiency then you should just build it.
