The 15 Song Album collection:

Surely everyone knows of an album with a filler track on it - a track that only serves to pad out the album and make it longer.

You know the kind of thing - the producer says " Err, you know what guys? You've got one three-minute song left to record, but there's still about seven minutes left to go on this record".

Often, the slack time is filled by sticking in an instrumental track.

Alternatively, you may simply define "filler" as a "track that you skip every time you play the album".

One may argue that Songs of Experience was a filler album...

Never say never...

However, for the pure sake of understanding what is happening, let's say that I didn't exactly understand what you meant the first time.
And I tried to make a joke.
But, if you reply as you did, perhaps I didn't understand what you meant at all (also because here one can't see the smile that you probably posted from your phone).

In hindsight, maybe you meant that all of Phil Collins' output is money-making bs.
If so I'll tell you that please note the two songs I mentioned represent the worst of the worst of PC and therefore perfectly on theme.
The first album mentioned (Testify) is all songs a complete filler, that's why I quoted the statement of @nextstep . ;)

I remember reading an article years ago about artists that recorded albums just to fulfill their contact with a recording company. The article named several artists who recorded album(s) and then changed record companies. I agree that this topic could fill many 15 song albums.

To help put my not so hot theme out of its misery, I'm going to bend the rules and make a third entry!

If you think that this action is beyond the pale, then feel free to delete the entry and insert one of your own.

Only two entries to go! :cheerful:
