I seem to remember that one of the original rules of this game was that the song should (or at least could!) be in your personal music collection e.g. on CD or LP.

I don't think that a reference to a YouTube sing along song is within the spirit of the rules.

What do the long established players think?

I'm certainly not a "long-established" player, but I had mentioned a while back that personally, I try to pick songs that within my own collection unless the album drags on for too long. That's just more fun for me. I see new music (to me) posted from others occasionally and old favorites that make me smile and think that it may be cool if one person or another enjoys the same tunes as I. That's my enjoyment.

It doesn't matter much to me if others do the same. Whatever floats your boat.

I certainly try to pick from my own collection (and do so about 95% of the time). But I also agree with Patrick that it makes sense to go elsewhere if a particular album has stalled.
