Not to get too off topic, but what you call shortbreads, which I LOVED in Scotland, we'd call a shortbread cookie. What you call biscuits, we call cookies. What you call crisps, we call chips. What you call chips, we call French fries. Oddities a plenty.

An "American" biscuit is more like a less-dense scone. Example attached.
