Nature of the topic (1st record) kinda eliminates 2 postings, but it has stalled, so...

This was my 1st 45, I remember it wasn’t available anywhere other than the B-side to Immigrant Song.

I’ll admit to having several K-Tell records, not covers but some bad music and awful quality recordings of the decent songs.

:D

I found one of those K-Tel "miracle" brushes at the back of a draw last week - just what I needed as the cat had gone to sleep on my coat. Unfortunately the brush only managed a couple of sweeps before completely falling apart:(

No one admitting to being fooled by those cheapo "Hits" LP's which had an attractive lady on the front of the sleeve and only the small print showed them to be covers?

Here's "The Who" YouTube
Didn't Playboy sell, or at least a company advertising in PB sell loads of records of the kind "Sounds like Simon & Garfunkel" etc.
It's one thing that people do their own versions/interpretations of other artists work, but trying to sound exacty alike ...

In the Uk the Top Of The Pops series included Reg Dwight plinking and plonking away on piano - they tried to cash in on his success by issuing a compilation CD of these works entitled Reg Dwight Goes Pop (presumably they were prevented from using the name Elton John:D)
