Testing Power Amp With Headphone?

There are different ways of actually doing the Ayton-Perry winding, and, naturally, there are other ways of making a non-inductive resistor but the basic A-P way is quite okay for lower impedances - just work out how long the resistance wire needs to be, add a bit more, then fold this length in half and wind this up on a wooden, plastic, etc former (a pencil will do) and then tape the unit without it unwinding - the 2 ends can be trimmed for closer resistance - Manganin wire is easy to solder and the insulation will burn off with soldering iron - there is a 'burn-in' period but the difference is quite small.

All the best with your project and using the headphones as a test device.
