Tesla Cybertruck?

In the seventies, Exxon made a lot of noise about being an 'Energy Company', no matter what form that would take in the future, now they are just looking for short-term profits for shareholders.
When Exxon Mobil moved to Texas (after jumping ship from NYC to Virginia), their acquisitions have been much more narrowly focused on E&P, or extensions of existing biz, previously they had purchased Container Corp of America, Montgomery Ward and Reliance Electric!

While Tesla is riding high right now with their 1000HP "Plaid" electric rocket-ship, it is likely it will "all fall down". It's happened before...the 1970 400+ HP Boss 429 Ford Mustang in four short years became the small 88 HP four-cylinder Mustang II. Power consumed along a simulated "track" with these electrics could form as a regulation, a limit of power production, this could could strike a death Knell to Tesla. Tesla knew of course of this intrinsic "need for speed" & played this hand quite well.

Someone ripping around in their Tesla dawn to dusk & visiting a supercharger station twice in one day is no different than the Corvette guy topping off his gas-tank in the middle of the afternoon after a day of entertaining himself.

I'm guessing we're more likely to see legislation responding to a rash of "unintended acceleration" crashes. Many EVs are capable of supercar 0-60 times; imagine millions of them in the hands of distracted or impaired drivers. Hopefully "driver assistance" features will stop them crashing through cinderblock parkade walls or storefronts. Or perhaps a responsible government would decide that equal access to EVs means rationing the limited battery production capacity. You could build 10 practical commuter cars or 100 e-bikes with the batteries from a single electric pickup.

The property casualty insurance carriers are going to see their expense ratios skyrocket like they did in the late 1970's.
