millwood, it is not right on topic, but as the problem seems to be of some serios concern for you i´ll give you some advice. The problem you suffer from, according to you description, we in germany have a word for, it is " functional analphabetism". We have a lot of words for every thing on earth over here, as we love our language. I know amerikans have a lot of words too for some things, mainly for things they don´t like to call by the real scientific name, this tells us what they seem to love most....
Back to our diagnosis: In our country our peaceloving communistic goverment (you know, Schröder and such) we have a solution for this problem you suffer from: its called "Volkshochschule", and it is very cheap. Maybe it is not known in your country as Pfitzer does not make any profit with this bitter, but very effective medicine.
The result is, functional analphabetism does exist here, but only a very few percent of people are infected with it.
This enables our peaceloving communistic goverment to allow even those people to go and vote at the election, what has my full backing. Yes, IMPCO also people like you should have the right to vote and to live. We can not force everyone to have every modern intelectual skill someone has invented once. Peopel should be free to choose what to learn and what not to learn.
The problem with functional analphabetism is, democracy does not work anymore in a country the majority suffers from it, and is allowed to vote. Please don´t missunderstand me know, i dont think on iraq right now.
