Teres Turntable bearing 2008 group buy

Not open for further replies.
Chris Brady committed to $200 per Teres turntable platter bearing for a minimum of 10 bearings. If we exceed that they will be less. There will be freight in addition I am thinking parcel post but we are not talking much, I will come up with something when we get closer. Those interested in Insurance let me know and we can figure that out as well. This is for the bearing only due to low response on the platter and high freight and logistics it was not worth offering, you can contact Chris direct and see if he will extend a DIY Forum member discount. It is probably not worth the effort to make a wiki page up for such low numbers but if some wants to feel free to.

Many thanks
Bill

Hi guys moving along well,
Stan contacted me about asking Chris about a spare ball and thrust plate. I agreed this was a good idea due to the bearing going out of production with Teres. I emailed Chris and this was his response "An extra ball bearing is not necessary since unless you expect your great grandchildren to be using your table. Regardless they are less than $1 and are readily available. An extra thrust plate may be a good idea,They are $15 each". When we meet out minimum buy (10) I will give you an opportunity to add the thrust plate on.

All right just one more person to commit and I can begin the buy process. I was beginning to think I would have to buy some extras and make up several platters.

What are you guys thinking about for platter construction. I have been alternating between molding something with composites, or gluing up a wood matrix. Ether one would require either making up a mold or building some sort of clamping system. Depending on which one I go with I would pass on the mold or clamping system.

I am thinking of a wood matrix also, maybe something similar to the nice cocobolo Teres platter.

Does anyone have the dimensions needed for the bearing to fit into the platter, ie size of the hole? Also the original Teres platters diameter would be of interest.

Ok,
Looks like we have 10 (I have one other that may join in in a week)
If you guys could send me your address and if you are interested in the extra thrust plate ($15) and if you want insurance - I will figure out your totals. PayPal would be the easiest for of payment please indicate form of payment and I will have to add Paypal handling fee in as well.

Thanks
Bill

Ok, my time is worth more than 2$ an hour. I'll take one. I have been hesitant to pay when I can make one, but how long will it take me to get it right? How many scrap parts will I make? I think this price is right.

Count me in for one bearing and an extra thrust plate.
