temp check

I just upgraded to the Triode Electronics "upgrade" power transformer in my ST-70 which also sports a Curcio CCDA driver and cap board. The stock transformer seemed like it was running pretty hot.

With the new transformer, I've been running for about 4 hours and the PT has stabilized at 112F on the surface of the laminations. I didn't get a temp reading on the stock transformer but this is hotter than I expected.

Is this a normal temp?

I also had a mechanical buzz from the stock PT that would get louder as the amp warmed up.

The buzz issue initially continued with the new PT but I spent the last day poking around going back over the wiring looking for a short or some other wiring error. Curcio doesn't document the connections between the CCDA driver and cap boards when used without his power supply board so figuring out some of the connections was a little confusing.

But I reflowed a connection or two and now the new PT emits only a slight buzz that does not change with use. You can feel it with your hand but only barely audible. So that's good news.
