Telefunken?

Hi

I bought 2 x Telefunken ECC81's on ebay, as NOS from a german ebayer. They came sealed in what look like genuine boxes, with cellophane intact. The packaging is in very good condition but not, I think new. But no diamond on the base - the base is plain save for the number "12". They have a very clear and unmarked Telefunken logo on the side with 'Made in Germany". The number 11122 is side on on the glass. They don't look as if they have been used. I did not pay a great deal for them.

Are they genuine?

Hi,

Are they genuine?

Yes and no...Yes in that they were probably made for TFK by another manufacturer.

No in the sense that they were probably not made by TFK themselves.

Is the number 11122 preceded bu another character such as U (for Ulm) for instance?

My guess is they were made by Valvo in Hamburg but it's just a guess.

Cheers,😉

No...
They are manufactured by RFT, Germany, when most of the TFK production lines were closed...

Hi,

Those ECC82s shown in that eBay link were never made for TFK.
They look like RFT ECC82s allright but are clearly rebranded by someone else.

RFT ECC81/2/3 always had those small folded plates similar to the US style 12AT7s.
Overhere in Europe about the last brand you want to spend money on for buying NOS ECCs are the RFTs. They sound weird.

Cheers,😉

It has to be said...

Frank is correct , these do not look like rebrands for TFK , but rebrands by a dealer recently to increase value . The origins of most of the valves from that particular Ebay seller were originally from a supplier in the UK . I can tell by the inking and the 'Mullard' logo's . The guy gets silly prices for what he sells , and what he sells are in reality mostly late production with old logos added , the boxes give the game away every time and look like they've been steamed to give an 'aged' effect . It should be stated that if purchases are to be made from the seller , that the bid amount is carefully considered .

cheers 🙂
