Greetings! Believe it or not, I just purchased a *New in Box* Tektronix 7L5 spectrum analyzer. The problem is that the unit is "option 20," meaning it has no L3 preamp. So .... I am seeking a Tektronix L3 or L1 preamp for a Tektronix 7L5 spectrum analyzer. The L3 is preferred. If I cant find an L3 or L1 I would consider the L3-1 (75 Ohm input on selector). Thank you! Kenn

I may have something. I have 3 7L5's. One is parts. One has the tracking oscillator and one is the basic unit. I do have an L1 (50 Ohm) module. I believe its passive. You could easily make a preamp for it. PM me if you are interested.

What mainframe are you using?

Thanks, Good question! The Tek 7854 signal processing scope requires "Option 12." I have option 20, which has to do with the options on the input amplifier. There is a Tek Application Note 26W-5653 that describes use of a spectrum analyzer with the 7854. I can't find that app note. Is it even possible to get a fully functional 7854, with the keyboard? I'm going to try to keep this (sub)project as inexpensive as possible.

Hi-sorry to be so tardy. The results are follows. I got the 7L5 with an L3 I purchased from another Gentleman to work in my 7704. Excellent! I tried to make it work in my 7834 storage scope, but there was a problem with the 7L5 display, so I think this storage scope requires an internal wiring option like in the 7854. This same Gentleman also sold me a second basic 7L5 and an L1 input amplifier. I tested the second 7L5 and I immediately saw and smelled smoke. I located the problem and I think I can fix it, just not now. If possible, can we discuss your 7L5 with tracking for sale?
