Tektronix 577 curve tracer polarity positioning fail

Hi,
The spot is always coming vertically outside the screen when I change the polarity (with about one graticule in both directions).
I have tested the VertPos Adj POT but it is not enough to get the spot back in the correct vertical position. any suggestions?
