Hi folks
I have a Tecknics SU-G86 amp that produces very low volume no matter the source.
I have a small understanding of electronics and I expect the problem is likely in the output stage but wondered if there is perhaps a known issue with this amp or if I should "look" at any particular components. I know it's old-ish but I'd like to get this working again.

when you turn it on, do you hear typical "click" few seconds later?
the sign relay connected the speakers on the amp output?

Yes the click happens. There is in fact a signal to the speakers but very low. The volume control has to be at least half full before you can hear anything.
Look at the rear panel, upper left. Isn't there a pair of jacks with links in them? They are the preamp out and power amp in jacks. If you do, pull the links out and connect your source material to the power amp in jacks. This will test only the power amp. Does it come out OK now or still diminished?
So, I have figured this out. The amp came with a tuner, CD player and an EQ. I wondered if the EQ needed to be connected and when I did VOILA! So I guess what Enzo said is correct except it's EQ in & out. I suppose there is normally a bridging connector there if you don't want to use the EQ? Does anyone know if simply bridging the RCA's with cables would be ok? I suspect it would be because you can turn off the EQ and the amp works as it's supposed to.
yes, short cable instead of eq would do the trick, luckily the amp works
however, there is a possibility that if you find a setting on the front panel where you disable external eq, you may not need the cables

There is no isolation button or switch on the amp but no worries I will just jump the jacks if I decide not to use the EQ.
On another topic does anyone have suggestion for the best value speaker measuring software and mics?
