Technics SU-V4K (E) One channel dead

Well, I used the day to clean all of the dust/dirt and grime off the back of the PCB's, as well as going over everything with a 5x magnifier.


I reflowed quite a few solder joints on the main and side PCB's. The new iron is working wonderfully - quick in and out - and the new solder joints are looking a lot better.


I also found four (4)!!!! cracked solder joints - all to the rear of the remote selector switches S2&S3 (input & record) on the side PCB. The two rearmost body to PCB mounting tabs all had loose solder joints, with a very fine crack showing, though it looks like the front mounting lugs were still solid.


Maybe this was part of my original speaker drop off problem, possibly being exacerbated by the proverbial "slapping between the ears" over the years...
