Technics SU 8080

Hello !

Momentaly I'm repairing an solid state amp from Technics (SU 8080 from 1978). One channel has blown power tranzistors and drivers which are :

- 2SD 427 (TO 3)
- 2SB 557 (TO 3)
- 2SC 1913 (TO 220)
- 2SA 913 (TO 220)

I'm wondering if you could help me to find the best substitute to this obsolete tranzistors. I've looked in many catalogs but I hasn't found any. I must mention that I'm from Slovenia which is in Europe so I prefer any MJ, 2N device (easier to obtain).

Thanx in advance !

Cheers Boštjan

That is a great Intergrated Amp. i used to have one of thouse and it replaced my cas1 and with the exception of not having as mutch guts the SU-8080 was cleaner and more detailed sounding.
The transistors that djdan is sugesting will work fine and also provide Better performance. the 2SA913 & 2AC1913 are High volt 300 Volt 1.5 Amp 15 MHz. devices and the 2SB and 2SD output devices are real slow and only 12 Amp. I would Keep that Amp It's Direct Coupled has a separate power supply including Transformers for each channel and was way ahead of its time as far as incorperating a high gain Power Amp section so when you have the Mode Via Tone or direct switched to direct the line level inputs are connected directly to the power amp input via the Volume control and bypasses the Internal preamp entierly. also the Output protection boards un plug so low impedance loads can be more readaly acomidated however at the risk of power transistors in the event of a shorted output.
