I haven't seen any mention of one of the SP-10's nicest features--the capability of lowering arm, sitting down in the sweet spot, and using the remote (wired) control to start the music. Mine's a MKII and I also have MKIIA. Anyone else doing that? Not sure if this feature is on MKIII or SP10R.
I made a video I can't find, but it's the bottom plate of my sp10 MKII hanging literally off a string. When struck with a knuckle, it rings like a bell. If anyone else removes theirs, listen for any changes in sound and report your findings. I'll see if I can redo the video Thanks.

My SP10 sit on a Minus K in another room from my system to isolate it from seismic and air borne vibration, so I'd need a very long remote control wire.. Moving the SP10 to another room makes an audible improvement to the spacial information in the music. So removing anything from the chassis that can vibrate will have a positive affect on the sound.
I go a step further and remove the motor from the chassis and mount it remotely in a separate plinth. . I have heard a few stock SP10mk2's in my system belonging to others and they are a fantastic TT in stock form but the remote motor modification and a modified platter elevates the SP10mk2 to play with mega $$ boys. There is no down side as the modification is totally reversible.

minusK in another room. That's extreme*. who cues the record up?
*Just jealous as no way I'll ever be able to get enough rooms to do that 😀

Made recordings, but DIY says its too big. Got bottom plate to download, will try the remote. Success!
