I have a Technics SL-P990 cd player which will not play unless I manually spin the disc. Several people have reported a similar problem. The cure appears to be changing 2 smd capacitors associated with the motor drive. Can any body tell me the value and number of these capacitors on the circuit diagram and roughly where they are on the board. The SL-P990 does not appear to have a separate motor board, so they must be somewhere on the main board.
Thanks, John.

Hi John!
According to this thread Technics SL-P990 CD Player - Unresponsive two metal can capacitors on the separate motor board may be the culprits.

Hi Galu,
Many thanks for your reply. I have now removed the drive and discovered the motor board underneath. I will attempt a repair when I have sourced some suitable capacitors.
Thanks, John.

Hi Galu,
Have now replaced the capacitors, the player performs perfectly and sounds fantastic. It is great to have brought an old but superb machine back to life which would have otherwise been put onto the scrap heap. This is my first visit to the diyAudio forum. What a great service it offers.
Once again many thanks for your help.
