I've just been given this turntable and have plugged it in to my Maurantz Melody hi-fi. When attempting to play a record the sound is very faint. Have had to whack the volume up to max to just barely hear it. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be please? Loose connections in turntable perhaps?
Hi Jon, Thanks for responding. I'm just plugging the Technics red/white cables directly into the audio sockets in the back of the Maurantz. Am I missing something? Cheers!
Thanks for that Bruce. I'm a newbie to analogue seperate's so can I ask why I need a pre-amp. Is that standard for all old TT's and putting them through new digital systems? Cheers!
Yes, and there are plenty of inexpensive choices. I assume you would want to purchase something ready to go based on your current level of expertise. (Later build something?)
Maybe something like this: music hall mini - music hall
or Behringer Microphono PP400 Phono Preamp | Musician's Friend
There are many other choices at varying price points.
