no I am not sure, but since the unit is old, really, really old, it be a good thing to do before taking it back into operation so I think. 🙂

I do not want this amp to become unstable during operation and potentially stress my really, really old speakers... 🙁
 
The amplifier has DC protection in order to save the speakers if something really goes wrong. Before replacing anything, I would load the amp with 8 Ohm power resistors, feed it with a variable frequency sine wave and monitor the outputs on an oscilloscope for a couple of hours.
First thing to do is to check all switches and potmeters for bad contacts and circuit boards for bad solder joints. If the big capacitors show no visual signs of damage, chances are that they are still O.K.
