Hello everyone!
Below a pic of my beautiful Technics SA-5070 it was a pain in the *** to find the right light bulbs to make it look like this (see picture)
But unfortunately I have some other issues or let's say questions.
Often when I found a station and listen on it, the station disappears and comes back multiple times. Then I have to rotate a little the tunning knob until I get a good hold of the station again.
What could be the root issue for that?
The Antenna what I use is 300 Ohm dipole fm Antenna ( I don't know if I can put the link over here... It is bought form the known big chinese store with the three letters starting with an A )
See picture that follows:
However I am not sure if I connected the antenna correctly. See next picture:
Another issue is that I feel the tunning knob very hard in compare to other vintage tuners or receivers.
No picture for that!
What could this be due to?
...and the last important issue is that I didn't find until now a free service manual for this beautiful peace.
Thank you in advance for every advice or help!
🙂

Try moving the antenna around, it should be formed like a T.
Or use an old rabbit ears antenna instead, to make that easier.

Dried up grease? Knob pressed too hard against the axle fixture?Another issue is that I feel the tunning knob very hard in compare to other vintage tuners or receivers.

Standards have shifted in time, and vintage tuners are not that much capable anymore handling current 'digital' standards. I own three tuners (sony's) who are struggling with the signals while the favoured transmitters are either one or fifty kilometers (5/8 - 30 miles) away.
I have no problems at all with FM reception in Germany.
All my tuners work perfectly, from the Revox A76, Kennwood KT1100, NAD, various Technics, Fisher, three DIY FM feedback PLL tuners ...
As advice, I can only recommend that you find an old service technician in your area. FM demodulation and reception belong in the hands of an old expert.
The problem could be located quickly and it is probably just dirt and resin buildup. But it could also be an electrical problem with the overlay receiver, the LO ...
Good luck,
HBt.

Today I found out why the knob was so hard!
Unfortunately before I found it out I put a lot fine lubrication oil to all the axes e.g. In the bearing of the variable capacitor, etc.
The reason was that because the amplifier's floor makes a small curve (the center down), when the amplifier stepped on its feet, the floor found the inside of the tuning knob and made it turn with difficulty. When I lifted it slightly, applying a little pressure on the center from the front side straight the knob turned as we are used to them! All it took was a small water bottle cap to place in the middle below to solve the problem.
The above text is automatically translated and I apologize if it is not completely understandable.

@gio4
Great, that the solution was so simple and just a tiny mechanical problem.
Cool, I'm happy for you - I've been a big fan of FM radio since I was a kid.
But unfortunately in Germany the content broadcast is just garbage, the stupidest drivel paired with maximum loudness and other sound design.
Only global, live broadcasts (e.g. from the Met) are still great.
greetings,
HBt.

Any hints about my first questions?
Regarding the connection of the 300 Ohm dipole antenna and regarding that strange issue in where when I found a radio station, I listen some minutes and than the station disappears ( I have the Stereo Auto Off option ) when I rotate a little bit the knob the radio station is there again.

Possibly signal strength fluctuation, antenna not aimed right, muting level too high, tuning not centered on station.
Make sure the main tuning capacitor is mechanically rigidly attached. I would first try a better antenna before anything else.
Do the symptoms change when you select "FM mono" ?

Hello!
Thank you for your answer!
Yes on Mono I have not these issues about stopping, etc.
I guess it is because the Stereo option is automatically also an auto off option.
I agree about the antenna. Right now I am using a 300 Ohm dipole antenna. But I have also an external antenna which is connected to another vintage tuner! 😝
So, I already ordered an antenna splitter to connect multiple devices to the same external antenna. But right now, I am waiting for the delivery.
However, I have another question. How can I adjust my analog tuners myself so that the needle reading corresponds to the actual frequency? This is not happen at the moment. For instance, I'm listening to a station that says it's on 92.5 and my needle is somewhere over 96.

Your muting triggers on stereo stations since the tuner needs 20dB more signal strength for stereo for equal quieting.
You can turn the muting off, but there will be more background noise on these weaker stereo stations.
You will likely need a better antenna, at least rabbit ears, mounted higher up and adjusted for the strongest signal.
If your tuner has a dial cord with a pointer clipped to it, you may be able to gently slide the pointer to the left while
holding the cord fixed (on the right side of the pointer). Avoid bending the pointer at all.
Don't force it, or something could break. Wash your hands first, since you don't want any grease on the cord.
