Technics SA-310 won't make sound

I recently got a $5 Technics SA-310 Stereo Receiver in great shape but I have managed to break it between the place I got it and my home. It was playing the radio at the yard sale, so I know it worked then. I was so excited that I unplugged it without turning it off, so I don't know if that messed it up. I checked the fuse and everything inside and nothing looks burnt or anything.

The trouble it is giving me is:

1. I can't get any output besides a small pop when i turn the speakers on and off

2. The digital readout is blank

Please help me in any way you can, and ask me questions if anything is unclear.

I appreciate any advice anyone can offer.

just a guess, i would say it is the power supply. unpluging a unit when its still on is like a brown out to electronics.😉

or you already found the problem?

i had that unit with my first wife, you wana sell it? or trade i have a working panasonic sa-he100😀

I figured out that the amplifier itself works, its just the speaker outputs and the digital display that are faulty. so for my purposes of amplifying my record player output the unit is perfectly satisfactory.

i have it hooked up through my stereo auxiliary input, using the tape recorder outputs on the receiver.

I am still curious as to why the speaker outputs are not functioning properly, as well as to why the digital display doesn't work.

I'm sure no one can tell exactly just from my description, but I still appreciate any suggestions.

ps to karma, it works so i guess the power supply is fine. as for trading, could you tell me more about the panasonic you are offerening? also thanks for responding, i appreciate it. 😎

im trading it off because a pcb inside got damaged it was fixed.
but it will not go into 5.1 surround, but for 2 channel its fine everything works. and its new just out of the box.

the pcb with the problem is for the digital volume i bypassed it with a pot, work great😉

all the toys work😀

that looks like a nice unit. i am curious as to why you are so eager to get rid of it. also if you can tell me i am wondering what it would take to repair its 5.1 surround output capability. if you are still interested in trading, could you let me know where you are so i can figure out how much shipping will cost. and also what would you offer me for my technics unit? i am not specifically looking for a receiver, all i needed was an amp which i have besides the technics, but i am impressed with your panasonic. let me know.😎

im in the london area,i dont use it and i was thinking you could use something in better shape.no big plan behind it. just a trade
reciever for reciever. i work on the old stuff😉

if the reciever works for that you need it for thats cool.

Is there power on the display/mcu circuit? Should be +-3.3 - 5V
Is there output relays?
Is the relays working correctly?

Trace the signals of the amp with an oscilliscope if you can.

Check transistors with a multimeter.

I got a pioneer amp once as a gift and all that was wrong was the two power transistors. Cheap fix.
