I have one of these decks which was given to me. It has been in a loft for the last 10 years. Surprisingly it works really well. Only problem is there is a noticeable speed variation on say piano pieces. Looks like it could be the drive belt for the capstan which may have aged. Ordered a spare belt but looked at the service manual and opened the case. It looks really complicated to dismantle.
Any step by step instructions anyone?!

Used a bit of roller cleaner (usually for the rubber parts of photocopiers and printers). Improved after applying to the belt. Don't want to take it apart until absolutely required. Sound quality is fantastic on playback. Not bothered recording with it. Use Mini Disc for that now!
