Hi, my technical knowledge is little so please forgive if I seem to be asking for help when the answers are obvious, or if I have posted to the wrong forum.
I am hoping some one can help with a problem I currently am facing.
Existing Technics SUVX500 amplifier is intermittently failing, after 19 years of faultless service the voltage control light goes off and the sound goes off with it.
I also have a Technics SU-V4X which is working fine.
The existing Technics SUVX500 is bi-wired to a pair of Tannoy 607 speakers, using the bi-wire position on the speaker selector switch. (Speaker selector switch has “A; B; Off & bi-wire positions)
I want to bi-wire the SU-4VX to the Tannoys using both sets of speaker terminals. This amp' has push button speaker selector switches marked "Main and Remote", no mention of bi-wire.
Both amplifiers have two sets of speaker outputs.
The questions are:
Su VX500 SU V4X
A OR B, BI_WIRING 4Ω_16Ω Main OR Remote 4 Ω – 16 Ω
A AND B 8Ω_16Ω Main AND Remote 8 Ω – 16 Ω
Sorry, if I’ve been long winded and thanks to anyone who has taken the time and trouble to read this.

The questions are:
- Should I have both Main & Remote switches on when using the speakers bi-wired
- Is it actually possible to bi-wire the SU-4VX as the impedances / switching given in the specifications differ from the SUVX500.
Load Impedance:
A OR B, BI_WIRING 4Ω_16Ω Main OR Remote 4 Ω – 16 Ω
A AND B 8Ω_16Ω Main AND Remote 8 Ω – 16 Ω
TANNOY 607 Speakers
Nominal Impedance 8 Ohms
Minimum Impedance 6 Ohms

You will want both the main and remote buttons pressed - this is the same as the 'bi-wire' setting on your other amp.
The amplifier will see the same overall load impedance if the speakers are biwired or single wired, i.e. it will still be nominally 8 ohms either way.
