Techflex Anti-Stat and cable shielding alternatives

I plan to make 40ft. long balanced interconnects using Duelund tinned copper wire. The idea of shielding came up for such a long run.

Techflex Anti-Stat carbonized nylon sleeve. Can it be used in place of the standard copper braid? How good of a shield do you think it is for interconnects?

If it's almost as good, this seems like a good option for DIY interconnects. Please share your thoughts on this application.
thanks,
Herman

Why not just buy 40ft of twisted pair cable? A factory can make this much better than we can. You can even buy it with a shield already in place. Why do people want to make inferior cables instead of simply buying good cable?

My guess is that carbonised plastic will not make a good shield on its own because the resistivity will be too high.

I'd buy some Canare or similar cable that has a proper shield and the carbonized plastic. I know they make that in a coax, maybe also in twisted pair.

There are times when DIY just doesn't make sense.

The best balanced interconnect cables are made on big expensive machines.
Why? Because a balanced interconnect requires symmetrical placement of the two signal conductors with respect to the shield. The problem is Shield Current Induced Noise (SCIN) and even cables with just a foil shield & a drain wire are subject to this problem.

Stick with the major bulk cable manufactures.
