Hi,
I have to replace a TDA7560 on a car stereo. Do I have to use an insulated pad between the stereo chassis (that acts as a heatsink) and the chip?

I believe that the tab is isolated from the electronic circuit. You could measure the resistance between the ground and B+ terminals of the IC to confirm.
The diagram in the datasheet shows the tab as ground. If that's true, there is no need for an insulator.
If you don't use a sil-pad, you at least need to use heatsink compound (assuming full isolation).
