The TDA7294 is (despite of its higher number) outdated. Try TDA7293 instead. It is the newer and evolved successor to the TDA7293.
Ulrich Böhmke (an electrnics designer who has designed amps with TDA7294 and 7293 for Elektor and Schuro) says that one should not use TDA7294 any longer, the difference was quite notable.
