TDA1558Q help

Well i got bored and i pulled a TDA1558Q chip from an old car radio. Now I have the data sheet on this chip. I want to make a simple 22 x 2 watts amplifier that i can use for a portable boombox that will be fed with my mp3 player.

I can't really find anything specific online using this chip.

I also have 2 Lapt a1860 and 2 lapt c4886 laying around if that helps?

My main question is how to get the chip into an amplifier? will i need to make a preamp for it? If so will a lm 386n chip be ok for that?

Thanks,

Dave

Hum,

You can do the stereo BTL application figure 4 in the datasheet. It is very simple do do.

I think the main problem is power supply. Find 4A in a portable system is very difficult.

Maybe with a portable lead battery (12V 4A minimum) it is possible. But it will be not thin.

I think you don't need a preamp if your mp3 player have a volume control.

I don't know if the lm386 is correct for your application, so be patient for another answer.

ok yea i was looking at the schematic but it seemed too simple to just hook it up with so few parts and make it work. Also yes I will be using a small rechargeable sealed led acid battery good for 5Ah. Thanks for the reply and i'll sit tight for more comments.

I am in desperate need of these two chips. What can I do to get them. I have aquired a 2 channel ps200t kenwood amp for free since i can fix it. I bit off more than I can chew. There are about 13 blown resistors 4 transistors among other things. The only one I'm having problems finding is these two chips(lapt c4886 and a1860) What can I do???? Thanks newbie.
