Hello
I'm thinking to build a NOS DAC and I found a bare PCB on Ebay, at Jim's Audio store.
TDA1543 x4 CS8412/14 NOS DAC PCB w/ vibration proof clock PCB highly musical !! | eBay
This PCB has an SPDIF input and an analog audio output. I will also need a digital input selector (1 optical + 1 coax) to connect my CD player and PC on.
I have no experience on DAC's, so I would appreciate your opinions about this PCB. I'm looking for a budget project, a kind of audiophile, because the most of the time I'm listening to classical and jazz music.
Do you think that it's worth and meets my demands? Does anyone try it?
Thank you in advance.

For classical and jazz music I'd choose something different than a TDA1543. The dynamic range and noise figures of that DAC aren't any good. If you wan't it cheap, try something with a TDA1387 or CS4328 if you're into old DACs. There are decent AD1865 solutions too.
IMHO TDA1543 was a just a hype and never sounded good unless you're listening to Rock music with low-sensitive speakers only.

Its pretty unusual that the datasheet for the TDA1543 says "economy version" - were they trying to say "spend more money on the better version", in which case why not say what the better chip is? To me it just says "avoid this chip" so its incompetent marketing BS, not just marketing BS...
Anyway worst case distortion is -70dB, which is not great for 16 bits.
