But that was the lowest price I've seen so far. I paid for my S1 chip $50 as well.

How does the sound of the TDA1541S2 that you bought from the chinese? How is it compare with the S1? I am thinking to make a DAC using TDA1541, if the S2 is a real one, i think its a good idea to try it.

Yeah, Peter, please do a test, plug the plain vanilla A, the S1 and the S2 in a socket and let us know how it sounds.

I did just that.. use a socket and listen to all three spieces.... to me the difference was less than significant, but that's just me... but don't ask me for proof if I say I cann't hear a difference... 😉

To me S1 sounds closer to regualr version and S2 (which is a real deal from elib) sounds more different (and I'd say better).

just in case anybody had anydoubt.. I also redeived my chips from Elib, and bought the S1 version myself from Philips Eindhoven (I hot the last 17 NOS pieces from Philips Eindhoven..).. all sound pretty much alike too me....
