Has anyone tried one of these or similar??
The board layout looks excellent, plenty of room for discrete regulators and PSU upgrades.
Ebay DAC kit
There are a few variations about with up to 4 TDA's on board.
I know that generally pepople are starting to accept some chineese kit as being good but i'm sure that there is some junk as well!

As far as I can see, its got 2 on the main board and another 2 on satellite boards directly above.
I've asked about supply voltages. I have to say it looks very good to start, without playing the mod game!!

At this price USD 289, it is without output stage ? My concern is the lack of diy. At 4xTDA1541a, DEM is a must. For this price, u might as well consider ECDesign for the ultimate NOS TDA1541A which is in quad too.
U might want to consider

I would have though the only thing needed was an output stage and some transformers?
DEM is this to align the output from the 4 TDA's?
From a DIY pov, i'm sure there would be gains to be had in upgrading the clock, regs, decoupling caps etc.

Hello
This chineese kit are TDA1541A*4 (Philips chip) parallel output.
Ecdesigns kit are better since it is with a shift register who do like a analog oversampling.

Is it not considered "better" to have NOS?
I am definately interested in building something based on TDA 1541.
I suppose I'm looking for a good reason not to have a play with this DAC.
From what I have read this chip in NOS seems to be very highly regarded.

Hello
NOS dac are less sensitive to jitter, but many find out that in orchestral music you can lose some definitions with NOS dac.
Shift register dac are a NOS dac, but the bit shifting of 2, 4, or 8 TDA1541A dac chips give a higher sampling frequency and no need of high order output filter.
