Hi,
is it known that the 1541A is capable of 8 times oversampling.
Found a data sheet:
http://www.avc.ru/binaries/21351/TDA1541APHI.PDF
There is also written that A is +/- 1 LSB, R1 is +/-2 LSB and S1 partially +/- 0,5 / 0,75 / 1 LSB
See also this document:
http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/various/DIGITAL.pdf
There are listed all DACs from Philips with data comparison 😀
For the 1543 lovers: This is the worst of all. THD -73 dB
TDA 1547 bitstream shall be best according to Philips.

Old news. You won't see much implementations with TDA1541A running 8 x Fs though. Must have something to do with SAA7220 I guess ...
BTW the "best" one ( TDA1547 ) really sounds the worst of all. Never heard a single one that was even slightly OK. The popular Teac VRDS 10 has those DAC's in it, one of the reasons people use external DAC's with that one.
Specs and sound quality do not always correlate as you can test yourself. Maybe you could try that dreadful TDA1543 and become a happy listener 😉
